Season 2 Episode 22: Casino Night
- When Michael and Toby both go 'all-in' off their initial two cards while playing Texas Hold 'Em, they simply flip their two cards over and Toby is declared the winner based on his pair of jacks. However, the dealer never did the three card 'flop,' followed by the one card each 'turn' and 'river.' Michael still could've won the hand.
- Dwight asks Jan if she is staying overnight at the "Hyatt in Wilkes-Barre." The only Hyatts in Pennsylvania are in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
- Kevin's band, Scrantonicity, was first mentioned in the deleted scenes of the first episode in season one. Kevin makes reference to it throughout the deleted scenes on almost every episode.
- The closeup of Pam's security badge has her name misspelled on it ("Beesley" instead of "Beesly"), both in the printed space and the handwritten signature.
- Near the end of the episode, Dwight's ID badge seems to finally have been fixed. It is of normal size, and correctly reads Dwight K. Schrute, but you'll notice that nobody bothered to change the box reading "Security Threat" when they re-made the badge.
- Michael awkwardly refers to the photographer's camera as a "computer camera," needing to be corrected that it's called "digital," even though in "Christmas Party" he made a big deal of using his own digital camera.
- When Michael goes to help with the Angela/Oscar there is an award on the wall that says MarcChristie, with no spaces, when it should clearly be Marc Christie.
- Michael comments on the difficulty of getting a good group photograph of 15 people, but the photograph only has 14 people in it.
- Michael brags about the Adult Cut Plus he got at Fantastic Sam's, though their closet location to Scranton is over 50 miles away in Bethlehem.
- These are Jim's pranks on Dwight listed in this episode:
- Replaced all of Dwight's pens and pencils with crayons.
- Paid everyone in the office $5 to call Dwight "Dwayne" all day.
- Placed a bloody glove in Dwight's desk drawer and tried to convince him that he committed murder. (Dwight suspected that Jim was the real murderer.)
- Told Dwight that there was an abandoned child in the women's bathroom. When Dwight went in to save the child he saw Meredith "on the can".
- Slowly placed a bunch of nickles in Dwight's phone headset over a period of time so that Dwight would get used to increased weight. Today he took them all out so when Dwight lifted the receiver using more force the required, expecting it to be heavier, he hit himself in the head with it.
- Placed a computer macro on Dwight's computer to type "diapers" instead whenever Dwight tried to type his name.
- Moved Dwight's desk an inch every time he went to the bathroom, so that at the end of the day it was two feet closer to the door.
- Oscar complained to Toby in H.R. about Angela's babies-dressed-as-jazz-musicians poster because he found it to be offensive and in bad taste. Toby gave her that poster in episode 210 (Christmas Party). Before he gave it to her, Toby stated that he thinks the poster is creepy.
- When Michael is asking Dwight for his urine, we are able to see the photograph that is taken at the end of the next episode, "Conflict Resolution," in the background.
- Michael wouldn't have been able to use Dwight's urine. When a person is getting tested they aren't allowed to take anything in with them. So he wouldn't have been able to take the cup. Many times the nurse doing the test is in the same room to prevent cheating.
- It's revealed that American Pie 2 is Kevin's favorite movie, but in a deleted scene from "The Fire", he mentions his five favorite movies, none of which is American Pie 2.
- Since Michael claims to share his birthday with Eva Longoria, then this episode takes place on Wednesday, March 15th, 2006.
- Toby's daughter Sasha is blonde, but in a previous episode Michael looked at framed picture of Sasha on Toby's desk in which she was a completely different child.
- Heinrich Hoffmann was famous for his rather gruesome cautionary tales. His children's stories would center around little children being burned to death for small errors in etiquette. It would appear, contrary to Michael's accusations, the German author Heinrich Hoffmann was not well-read in Nazi circles. In fact, Hoffman dropped out of the freemasons because of their anti-semitism. Struwwelpeter was later used by a pair of authors in WWII to mock Hitler. They published a book called Struwwelhitler. There was another Heinrich Hoffmann who was Hitler's chief photographer, but the Hoffmann children's book author died in 1894, long before the rise of the Nazis.
- When Michael shows us his plaque and certificate, the plaque has the word "Association" misspelled as "Assosiation."
- When Dwight is talking to Angela about getting the best Valentine's Day present ever, the scene was cut when the camera angle changes. At one point Dwight was looking at a paper from a folder, holding it just outside of the folder with his right hand. The shot cuts to another angle and Dwight's hand is to his side and the paper is in the folder.
- At the end of the deleted scenes for this episode Michael is chased down the street by Devin, who was fired by Michael in the episode "Halloween".
- According to the DVD commentary, the boardroom scene in which Craig blows the whistle on Michael and Jan's hook-up, and Michael stays silent, is likely the only scene in the series so far in which Michael keeps his mouth shut the entire time.
- When Jim is about to leave at the end of the day he is talking to Pam. From one angle Jim is holding his bag in his hand, but when the camera cuts to the next angle where Jim is leaving, he has the bag over his shoulder.
- A whiteboard can be seen above Kelly's desk showing the current quarter's top salesmen. Out of the four shown, Dwight Schrute is the top salesmen of the quarter.
- After Ryan paid Jim a visit to ask him a question about his chair, Kelly told Jim about her huge crush on Ryan and begged Jim to talk to Ryan for her to see if he "likes her back." This seems to conflict with the response she gave in the episode The Fire when they were playing "Who Would You Do?" and her response was, "Definitely Jim. Definitely, definitely Jim."
- Dwight is making several calls to a radio station to win a box set. The station is Rock 107 (hence trying to be the 107th caller). This is Scranton's classic rock station WEZX 107.3 with offices on Penn Avenue.
- Jim states he had a crush on Pam when she first started (implying Jim was there first). Pam later tells Michael that Jim had a crush on her when he first started (implying she was there first).
- Michael explains that the office is doing spring cleaning in January, though the large white board calendar in the office could not possibly be showing the month of January for 2005 or 2006. The calendar either shows September or December (the last day of the month cannot be seen) though there is a note on the 4th about an "every first Monday meeting." The only months in 2005 with a Monday the 4th are April and July.
- When Dwight stakes out Oscar's house it is still daytime. When we see him bust Oscar it is nighttime, yet we cut back to the office and it is still daytime. It is uncommon for the story to be show out of sequence except for the 'to-the-camera' interviews.
- Michael takes Jim out to lunch at Hooters Restaurant. However, there is no Hooters Restaurant in Scranton, and the nearest one is 50 miles away in Binghamton, NY.
- It is revealed in this episode that Michael apparently frequents Chuck E. Cheese when he complains out loud after Jim tells Dwight that they going there.
- We learn in this episode that Phyllis had scoliosis as a girl and that Creed was in an iron lung during part of his youth.
- The nurse says that no metal of any kind is allowed in the room when Dwight gets his CAT scan. Actually, metal is not allowed near an MRI/fMRI machine; it is not a problem around a CT/CAT machine.
- Captain Jack said he was the captain of a cyclone class PC 179 during Desert Storm. In fact the first Cyclone wasn't even laid down until June 90 and commissioned in 93 well after Desert Storm.
- When Kelly gets drunk, she corners Dwight and kisses him. In the second episode of the first season, Dwight declared that he was sexually attracted to Indian women, implying Kelly. Four episodes later, we learn that Kelly is obsessed with getting a boyfriend but is painfully shy. Dwight, however, hooked up with Angela in the previous episode, who is evidently angry at Kelly.
- The poster of babies dressed up as adults which Toby bought for Angela reappears in "Conflict Resolution" as the catalyst for an argument between Angela and Oscar, and then a day of confrontations between employees, instigated by Michael. Ironically it is Toby, as HR director, whose job it is to deal with conflicts.
- When Jim is trying to convince Dwight to give him the teapot to give to Pam as a gift, the teapot is out of the shrink wrap. Later, Dwight is examining what is inside the pot. When Pam recieves it and shows it to Jim, it is still in the shrink wrap.
- One of the presents being exchanged (repeatedly) was a Video iPod. This episode aired on the same day that NBC announced that The Office episodes can be downloaded for $1.99 onto a Video iPod.
- When Michael is talking to Dwight before he leaves for the day, Dwight's collar is up, but as he's walking away it's down.
- According to the e-vite, Jim's home address is 2147 West Silverlake Drive and his phone number is 550-555-1212.
- Jim's yearbook actually contains two pictures of John Krasinski - the class picture of Jim, and one of him playing basketball on the opposite page.
Season 2 Episode 9: Email Surveillance
- This episode reveals that Angela is a vegetarian.
- According to Jim's e-vite, the date for the party is November 5, 2005, which was a Saturday, even though this episode takes place on a Friday.
Season 2 Episode 8: Performance Review
- While tricking Dwight into believing that the day is Friday, instead of Thursday, Jim pretends to leave a message on his friend's answering machine. He says that he will meet his friend on the next day, which is the 15th, to which Dwight replies is a Saturday. This can't be correct since this episode comes after "Halloween" and before "Christmas Party", and the nearest time that the 15th of the month is a Saturday is October of that year.
- When Dwight is saying why he should get a raise, he mentions that he came in even when he had walking pneumonia. However, in the episode "Health Care," Dwight states that he does not need health coverage because he never gets sick and has a perfect immune system.
- When Jan leaves, and Michael goes after her, we see Vance Refrigeration is on the same floor as Dunder Mifflin, even though in "Pilot", Michael said that Dunder Mifflin had the whole floor of the building.
Season 2 Episode 7: The Client
- In the state of Pennsylvania, school districts are fully and completely autonomous political bodies, sometimes spanning portions of multiple counties. The only exception to this is the School District of Philadelphia, which is under the jurisdiction of the City of Philadelphia (which also functions as a county). Therefore, the number of schools in Lackawanna would have no direct influence on how much paper the county would order.
- When Pam talks to the camera about the find-and-replace error in Michael's script, we see a page from the script and the error to which she is referring. The dialogue on this page, however, is different from the dialogue at the read-through when they find the "Dwigt" typo.
- Although not explicitly stated, it is clear that "Catherine Zeta-Jones" in Michael's screenplay is based on Pam. During the read-through of the script, Michael's character asks "Catherine" for his messages, and when she tells him she loves him he turns her down because "they work together".
- When Dwight enters the bathroom to find his desk, you can see the rarely-seen cameraman in the mirror reflection.
- The closeup of Dwight's business card shows Dunder Mifflin's phone number to be in the 717 area code. While Scranton used to be in the 717 area code, NE Pennsylvania was shifted into a new 570 area code in December, 1998.
- We learn that Jim's emergency contact is named Larissa Halpert. Her address is 117 Vonbergen Street.
- On the dojo poster, "10 Rules of Karate" are:
1. Obey Your Parents
2. No Junk Food
3. Do Your Homework
4. Keep Your Room Clean
5. Maintain an Indomitable Spirit
6. Don't Fight with Your Siblings
7. Practice, Practice, Practice
8. Treat Others the Way That You Would Like to Be Treated
9. Be Loyal to Your Country
10. HAVE FUN!!!
This prop had to be cut out of the episode for time, but was revealed in B.J. Novak's TVGuide.com blog.
- It is revealed that Michael's middle name is Gary.
- Michael's cell phone ringtone is the tune of "Mambo Number Five" by Lou Bega.
- If Packer needed someone to drive him around because of the DUI, how did he get to Michael's office in the first place?
- In Microsoft Outlook inboxes, Pam's last name is mispelled as "Beasly" and Dwight's last name is misspelled "Shrute".
- When Toby is interviewed in front of the vending machine, all the items inside are flipped around so their names are not showing.
- Michael says in this episode that Meredith hasn't won a Dundie but back in "The Alliance" Dwight is going through Meredith's stats and says "Awards: Multiple Dundies".
- When Pam is watching tapes of prior years' Dundie Awards, one of Michael's performances is a version of "Mambo Number Five" by Lou Bega. This tune will also serve as Michael's cellphone ringtone in later episodes.
